About Skye:-
The Island of Skye, situated off the West coast of Mainland Scotland is the largest and most northerly island in the Inner Hebrides with a coastline that is a series of peninsulas and bays radiating out from a centre dominated by the Cuillin hills.

Skye is joined to the mainland by the Skye Bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh and it also has two mainland ferry connections from Mallaig and Glenelg, the latter summer only.

At 1,656 square kilometres (639 sq mi), Skye is the second-largest island in Scotland after Lewis and Harris. The main peninsulas include Trotternish in the north, Waternish, Duirinish, Minginish and Strathaird to the west and Sleat in the south.

The Cuillin Mountains, the Red Hills, Trotternish and Storr have long been favourites with photographers and deeply indented coastline means you are never far from the sea.

The Black Cuillin Mountains include 12 Munros and provide some of the most dramatic and challenging mountain terrain in Scotland. To the south, the Red Hills are sometimes also known as the Red Cuillin, they are mainly composed of granite that has weathered into more rounded hills with many long screes slopes on their flanks. Of all the variety of UK landforms, the mountain profiles of Skye create the strongest sense of awe, and they have drawn visitors to the island for many many years.

Not far from Skye on the shores of Loch Duich, is Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most-photographed castles in Scotland, another essential Skye and Lochalsh holiday experience.

Of all the places I have ever visited with my camera, Skye is right up there for both beauty and diversity of landscape or even just a peaceful holiday.
